Shirley Tate
Shirley Anne Tate is Associate Professor of Race and Culture in the School of Sociology and Social Policy at the University of Leeds. Her research focuses particularly on the body, affect, work, “race” performativity, “mixed race” and post-coloniality. She has published widely in these areas both in the UK and Europe and her books Black Skins, Black Masks: Hybridity, Dialogism, Performativity (2005) and Black Beauty: Aesthetics, Stylization, Politics (2009) take up these pre-occupations.
